Updating the turret mesh

This page explains how to set up the BP_InterceptionTurret to be compatible different meshes.

You might want to use your own turret mesh that uses more or less than two barrels. This can be done easily by following these steps:

  1. Swap out the turret base, body, and barrel mesh. You can apply any offset that you like to make the pieces fit together.

Important: When creating the meshes in your 3D software, keep in mind that:
    - The meshes default orientation needs to be aligned with the world X axis. Do NOT rotate your meshes in the editor (rotations will be overridden by the blueprint).
    - The pivot point will be used as a base for rotating the individual parts. Ensure that it is set correctly.

  2. Add an arrow component to the tip of each barrel. This is where the bullets will be spawning.

You also needs to move the average fire location arrow component to the right location. This arrow should be positioned in the middle of all added fire locations.

This is how you should set up the fire locations on your turret actor.

  3. Add all fire locations to the "Fire Locations" array (see Begin Play). Do not add the average fire location to this array.

BP_InterceptionTurret - BeginPlay: Ensure to add all fire locations here. Do NOT add the average fire location to this array.
